Information on Visas to Mexico

Posted on September 19, 2001

This policy can slow processing by 30 days or more. The policy even applies to US legal permanent residents, who are nationals of the countries listed. Some of the countries impacted by the change are: India, Taiwan, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Bosnia, etc. Before making a nonimmigrant third country national appointment for a US post in Mexico or before going to a third country national immigrant visa appointment, please check with the Mexican consulate regarding the policy. The policy is temporary, but we do not know the longevity. We have notified and asked for assistance about this situation from the Visa Office of the Department of State.
