D.C. District Court Decision Holding that the Government Must Release the Names of Individuals Detained in Connection with September 11 Attacks
On August 2, 2002, the District Court for the District of Columbia ruled that the Justice Department must release the names of individuals detained in the September 11 attacks within 15 days of the court's decision. Plaintiffs in this case were twenty-one public interest organizations committed to civil rights, human rights, and civil liberties including both AILA and AILF.
