Her areas of practice are business immigration law, work visas, employer immigration compliance, and immigration law affecting families of U.S. citizens and permanent residents.

Emily holds a Doctor Juris degree from University of Kansas School of Law.

As part of her dedication to public interest law, Emily served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, worked as a Public Interest Fellow at Legal Services of New Jersey and as a legal intern at the University of Kansas Legal Services for Students. While in law school, Emily researched legal issues for the Kansas Legislative Research Department and served as an intern to Kansas State Senator Greta Goodwin.

Her first exposure to immigration law was when she was a teenager living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, her mom assisted with the screening process of Vietnamese refugees. She was later able to do immigration legal work during a summer clerkship with Colorado Migrant Legal Services.

Emily’s Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Spanish and Political Science was awarded by the University of Kansas.

Emily speaks fluent Spanish, which was helpful in her studies and volunteer work in Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. Emily lives in Leawood with her dog Sasha.
