USCIS To Make Changes in Photograph Requirements
USCIS will begin to accept Department of State style photographs, a frontal perspective photograph, as of August 1, 2004, according to an update posted on the American Immigration Lawyers Association website. Only 3/4 profile photographs of applicants and petitioners were accepted previously.

2005 Diversity Visa Lottery Winners Notified
The Department of State issued a press release on July 22, 2004 which states that it has registered and notified all of the winners of the 2005 Diversity Visa Lottery
Extension of Stay for Some Foreign Students with Pending H-1Bs
A July 23, 2004 USCIS press release announced that some foreign students wishing to adjust to H-1B status "may remain in the United States legally" while their H-1B petitions are pending. An important requirement for the extension is that the student's prospective employer has filed the petition before July 30, 2004.

Government Computer News reports "The Homeland Security Department has asked vendors for advice on a revamped immigration processing system using outsourced services and data mining."
Visa Revalidation Program to End
Beginning July 16, 2004, the State Department will no longer issue revalidation stamps. Non-immigrant visa holders (such as (C, E, H, I, L, O and P) who wish to travel, now must go to a U.S. Embassy or Consulate to obtain a new visa stamp.
Nebraska Reports Wrong Dates for I-140 Processing
The Nebraska Service Center advises that the wrong dates were provided on the 6/15/04 Processing Time Report for I-140 skilled and unskilled workers. The 7/1 report should be out shortly. We will post it as soon as it is available.
