Mdivani business immigration lawyer Leyla McMullen presented for the Kansas Bar Association’s Annual Meeting, on a CLE panel with KU Law Professor Stephen McCallister and Washburn Law Dean Jeffrey Jackson. The panel was moderated by Brian Kong and Tess Ramirez. McMullen is Chair of Kansas Bar Association Immigration Law Committee. She discussed recent DOJ cases against employers who used restrictive language in their job ads that discouraged recruitment and hiring of employment-authorized individuals based on their citizenship status, including Georgia Tech + 30 private employers who entered into costly settlement with Department of Justice to resolve IRCA immigration-related discrimination claims involving Georgia Tech’s recruiting platform, and what employers should do to avoid getting in trouble. McMullen has the Thompson Reuters Super Lawyers designation. This peer designation is awarded only to a select number of accomplished attorneys in each state. The Super Lawyers selection process takes into account peer recognition, professional achievement in legal practice, and other cogent factors. McMullen has presented at national and state bar, industry, and SHRM association conferences.
